Housing provided through the Middlebury Schools Abroad is subject to local norms, practices, and living styles, which may differ from those in the United States. As a result, certain features students may be accustomed to, such as locks on individual bedroom doors in homestay settings, may not be available or guaranteed in all locations.

The program works to place students in housing that is appropriate and supportive of the study abroad experience. However, housing arrangements can vary by site and host, and specific amenities cannot be guaranteed.

Students who have concerns about privacy or personal space may wish to bring a portable travel door lock, where appropriate for their housing setting.
